Islamic Religious Holidays On State Calendars, But Not Christian Or Jewish

Holidays are symbolic of a culture, of what is important to a people, of their way of life. America’s holidays have been centered around Christmas, Easter, and July 4 – our Christian faith and our freedom. What if other holidays that are incompatible with our Constitution and our faith are added?
The Muslim Brotherhood is building parallel Islamic societies that refuse assimilation in America. They have captured our schools, courts, and government from within. Sharia is a hostile totalitarian ideology that is hell bent on replacing the Constitution with Islamic supremacy. They are now intent on getting their religious holidays added to our state calendars.
Currently Christmas is the only religious holiday on the federal calendar. Although the majority of Americans celebrate Easter as a religious holiday, it is not an official federal holiday. All of the official holidays except for Christmas are secular.
Only Congress can create federal holidays and there is no movement – as of yet – to add other religious holidays to the calendar. At the state level, holidays are recognized by the state legislatures.
Nationally, the percent of Christians is 69 percent, Jews are 2.4 percent, Muslims are 1-1.3 percent, Hindus are 1 percent, Buddhists are 1 percent, and Sikhs are .06 -0.15 percent.
While widely celebrated, Easter remains one of the Christian holidays determined at the state or local level rather than federal.
Last year, Washington became the first state to officially recognize the Muslim holidays, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, as state holidays. Muslims comprise 1.58 percent of the state’s population. Athough Christians are 51 percent of the total population and Jews are 1.3 percent, the only religious state holiday is Easter.
In California, Democrats have introduced a bill – AB 2017 -- to add Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to the state holiday calendar. The discrimination by the California legislature against Christians and Jews is glaring. Muslims comprise a mere 1.3 percentof the population.Christians are 55 percent of California’s total population while the Jewish population is 3.2 percent, the second largest in the United States, after New York.
Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur are all extremely important holidays in Christianity and Judaism, yet these are not recognized as state holidays in California.
The message is that Islamic holidays are much more important than the Judeo-Christian values upon which our country is founded.
In Texas, we have no official state holidays, only optional holidays for state employees, including Good Friday, Rosh Hashanah, and Yom Kippur. With the rapid growth of Islam along with other foreign religions in Texas, has come proposals for adding Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and Diwali, a five-day festival celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and some Buddhists that symbolizes the spiritual victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. Though the purpose of Diwali sounds positive, these Eastern religions do not worship our Christian God; rather their beliefs range from polytheism and pantheism to non-theism.
With the addition of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to state holiday calendars comes the very worst aspects of Islam.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Islamic “holy month” of Ramadan.Because the Islamic calendar is lunar, the holiday takes place at different times each year during the ninth month of the calendar.
The month long holiday commemorates Mohammed’s first vision in 610 CE, in which he supposedly was visited by the angel Gabriel (Jibril in Arabic) in a cave near Mecca and given a revelation that ultimately became the Quran. It is a month of fasting and a national holiday in countries with Muslim theocracies.
Unlike Christmas that is a time of peace, Ramadan is traditionally the month of war in Islam. Although war is forbidden in the Quran during four other months (the 1st, 7th, 11th, and 12th), it is not only allowed during Ramadan, but historically encouraged against non-Muslims.It was during Ramadan that the Yom Kippur War against Israel in 1973 was started by the Arabs.
Two years ago, Ismail Haniyeh, the billionaire political leader of Hamas who lived in Qatar until killed in July of 2024, called for all Arabs to attack Israel during Ramadan and to siege and blockade the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem while provoking mass riots there. Even though Hamas had called for more war during this holiday, they said that Israel could not take military actions during Ramadan because it would be an act of disrespecting Islam. Suckered in,the Biden administration believed they had to airdrop aid into Gaza during the holiday to show respect for Islam.
Eid al-Adha, the “Feast of the Sacrifice,” is a holiday about sacrificing and killing if commanded by Allah. Stones are thrown against a wall to symbolize a willingness to fight anything that is contrary to the Quran. Approximately 50 million animals are sacrificed each year during this holiday with each Muslim family participating.
Yom Kippur is a Jewish holiday for self-reflection and atoning for our sins. Epiphany is a Christian holiday celebrating the baptism of Jesus. Good Friday deepens the Christian faith as it honors the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for all of humanity. Ash Wednesday reminds Christians of the journey of Jesus during Lent that leads to the Resurrection on Easter. Atonement, spiritual awareness, and faith in God are being rejected by those states that recognizeEid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, while honoring the Islamic values of war and death.
Are the values of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha what Americans want to commemorate?
Several states, including Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, and Virginia, have local government observances or have proposed legislation regarding Muslim, Sikh, and Asian holidays.
By adding holidays for these foreign religions to our government holiday calendars, we are erasing Western civilization with its Judeo-Christian values and officially adopting Eastern practices and values.
In perspective: How many Eastern countries allow Christian and Jewish religious holidays to be officially celebrated? Why do Americans allow foreign religions to be official holidays in our country at any government level?
