...Dallas County Republican Lawmakers Receive Low Fiscal Responsibility Scores

By Carole Hornsby Haynes, Ph.D. July 21, 2019

We knew it would happen. Now that the purple 2019 legislative session in Texas is over, Republican lawmakers are flooding our email and postal boxes with pleas to send money because they are afraid of losing to Democrat challengers. Those same candidates who sneered at us during the session and refused to pass key GOP legislative priorities now are whining for money to stay in office.

General Land Office Commissioner George P. Bush sent a letter to the Texas State Board of Education about removing from the social studies curriculum standards the Travis letter and “heroic” from descriptions of the Alamo defenders.  He argued that the recommended changes are not about “trimming class time” but rather about “diluting Texas history” and influencing what students will learn about our past.

Texas Monument Bill Is Dead; Auction of Lee Statue Begins

By Carole Hornsby Haynes, Ph.D. May 22, 2019

Thanks to Republicans, Texas will have no protection for its heritage. The House Calendar Committee chose not to schedule Senate Bill 1663, a historical monument preservation bill, for a vote in the final days of the legislative session.

USDE Secretary DeVos Pushes America Toward World Governance

By Carole Hornsby Haynes September 26, 2018

In his speech to the United Nations assembly in New York, President Trump served notice that “...America will always choose independence and cooperation over global governance, control, and domination.”

Despite knowing how the president feels about one-world government, U.S. Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos recently signed a declaration that places American education right in the center of the global agenda.

Merge Federal Departments? Better to Abolish Them

By Carole Hornsby Haynes, Ph.D. June 28, 2018 World Net Daily

President Donald Trump wants to combine the Education and Labor Departments into a single Department of Education and the Workforce. The DEW would “centralize and better coordinate Federal efforts to train the American workforce.”

Let's be clear. It is not the role of federal government to train the American workforce.
